On May 10th, 2023, the first travel carbon conference was held in Beijing with the theme of "carbon benefits, transportation, wisdom and enjoyment of the future". The main members of the Carbon Branch of China Urban Public Transport Association made a collective appearance. The conference reached a consensus on the development direction of zero-carbon transportation, and representatives from travel, logistics, finance, automobiles, energy, scientific research institutions and other fields jointly issued the Declaration on Zero-carbon Transportation Consensus. The "Declaration" intends to gradually promote the transition from high carbon to low carbon and then to zero carbon in the transportation field through various efforts.

Under the scenario of carbon neutrality, the energy system is undergoing transformation, and the transportation industry will also face the transformation requirements. Zhang Xiliang, director of Tsinghua University Institute of Energy, Environment and Economics, believes that the carbon market is essentially a cross-industry tradable performance standard, a basic means to control the trend of total carbon emissions, and a basic incentive mechanism for low-carbon economic and social transformation. In the long run, China will shift from an intensity-based carbon market to a total-based carbon market, and by 2035, it will realize a global model carbon market with diversified trading subjects, diversified trading products, reasonable trading prices, sound laws and regulations, and strong and effective supervision.

The process of energy saving and carbon reduction of urban traffic in China is highly coincident with the process of urbanization and motorization, and the situation of carbon reduction of urban traffic is not optimistic. Guo Jifu suggested that in order to accelerate the realization of the beautiful vision of zero-carbon transportation, a "3+2" zero-carbon transportation development system should be established as soon as possible, starting with the optimization of urban structure, travel structure and energy structure, and making good use of two tools of technological empowerment and financial empowerment to form a more compact urban structure and promote the formation of a green lifestyle and energy mode.

Beijing Green Exchange is developing a national unified CCER registration system and trading system, building a green transportation enterprise carbon account and a green project library, and developing green asset support tools and green bond products linked to CCER and other carbon emission reductions. Qin Zhidong, vice president of Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. and general manager of Beijing Kawen New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. pointed out that although the number of commercial vehicles is not high, it is an important source of carbon emissions due to long operation time and large emissions. Foton Motor started research and development of new energy in 2003, and combined with lightweight and energy-saving technology, it promoted the optimization of vehicle energy consumption and provided customers with high-performance products. On April 15th, Foton Motor released the new energy 30.50 strategy, and it is planned that Foton Motor’s new energy sales will account for more than 50% by 2030.
